Zinc and Copper are two minerals that are essential to optimal immune health.

Zinc aids your immune system in its defense against bacteria and viruses and is necessary for T-cell production. Copper also plays a role in supporting your immune system, and the health of your nerve cells, making red blood cells, collagen production, and may help prevent cardiovascular disease.

Why Zinc supplementation?

Zinc is not stored in the body like Vitamins A, D & E, for example. To maintain optimal levels, Zinc is best consumed daily by eating animal proteins and plant products that contain Zinc. Zinc is contained in red meat, various kinds of seafood, poultry, and some legumes. When daily consumption from our food sources becomes a challenge, whether from personal choice to limit animal proteins or for those that do not have access to quality animal protein sources, supplementing with Zinc can be of benefit. (Note: Adequate hydrochloric acid in the gut is essential for the assimilation of Zinc. I’m Powered Robynzyme supplement addresses deficient stomach acid production.)

Zinc supplementation is also extremely beneficial in mounting a robust immune response at the onset of cold and flu-like symptoms.

Why Copper supplementation?

While Copper deficiency is not a cause for concern amongst most people, consuming foods rich in this mineral may not provide enough or adequate amounts of Copper, especially when supplementing with Zinc. Food sources that contain Copper include organ meats, shellfish, nuts, spinach, and unsweetened cacao.

Why would Copper deficiency be a concern? Why do we pair Zinc and Copper?

Zinc and Copper are “antagonists.” Both are obviously necessary and beneficial, but when consuming higher amounts of Zinc (>40 mg daily) for immune support during peak cold/flu seasons or due to a Zinc deficiency*, Copper levels will decline, which could lead to a Copper deficiency. Copper deficiency can potentially lead to anemia, low white blood cell count, osteoporosis, and thyroid problems, just to name a few.

I’m Powered Zinc Plus is a balanced supplement that provides 50 mg Zinc and 2 mg Copper per serving to support optimal immune health during cold/flu-like illness or for those with Zinc deficiency*.

This product is formulated for adult use only unless otherwise directed by a healthcare professional.
